Photo of Elise, to come

Elise learned mahjong from her mother growing up, plays every week, and teaches small groups.

how would you like to learn?

Elise teaches up to 7 people at a time, in a series of two sessions, about a week apart.

  • Put me in a group

Coming on your own, or with a friend or two? Elise puts together small groups of people who’ll enjoy learning together.

  • I have a group

Already have friends who want to learn? Start a find-a-time poll, and everyone ticks the times they can make.

Pick a time and save your spot. Each lesson goes ahead once enough people have signed up. Elise then emails everyone to confirm, with the address and a calendar invite.

    what to expect

    what a lesson is like

    • You’ll learn the tiles, the Charleston and how to read this year’s card, then play real hands with Elise at the table.
    • Groups are small, up to 7 people, and questions are always welcome. Nobody is rushed.
    • You don’t need to bring anything. Elise brings the tiles, racks and cards.

You pay Elise directly: cash, check or Venmo.

Once you’re playing, Midday Mahj also hosts game days at local restaurants. See the game days
